We embrace art, tactility, craftsmanship, the dignity of the ephemeral human body, technology and respect for our environment, but not necessarily in that order.

ABS is a unique and comprehensive New York City based architecture, lighting design and fabricator/ builder with experience in residential, commercial and hospitality projects. Our approach is simple- there is no need for compromise on the design phase because of budgetary or technical restraints. To that end we provide services typically associated with separate entities under one roof. Our design work, headed by published architect & founder Asa Barak, covers all phases from schematic to detailed engineering solutions for buildings and products, with an emphasis on figuring out affordable feasibility of otherwise impossible to execute ideas. As a licensed firm with in house expediting & filing services we control all phases of the Department of Buildings approval process. Our technical team provides shop drawings, construction management and fabrication of special items such as canopies, architectural stairs, facades and Millwork. Together with our partnerships in the construction industry, we also provide turnkey design/build solutions for select projects. Our workshop produces one of a kind lighting fixtures, prototypes & other custom items using Cnc, lasercutting, brass, aluminum and steel welding. More than anything, we love making, thinking, tinkering and learning. We strive to leave a useful, inspiring mark behind us.
